A hobby of mine is digital archaeology, specifically looking at lists of expired domain names, looking for personal or professional websites. Usually, it's a real estate agent or SEO consultant who retired and let their domain name registration lapse. But sometimes it's an artist or author. which leads to me rediscovering some forgotten music or book series.

Because artists rarely "make it big", most of these sites are the sad remnants of someone's life dreams, forever abandoned. I make it a point to try to archive their content and bring it back to public awareness, even if the artist is long gone.

I'd like to think that I'm part of a trend that will aid in future understanding of the past. People in the future will find my recovered fragments of history, reposted in the current era, as a valuable compilation, with my own categorization and editorialization providing important context. Similar to how most pre-Greek history is lost and must be pieced together from the Greek's investigation into civilizations that were already lost in their own era.
