For a brief period of time, I had a fake gameboy homepage: https://web.archive.org/web/20231202214457/https://edwardhalferty.com/

This was about 50% vibe coded, 50% off the top of my head, in a fit of inspiration while unemployed. I had the idea that WebGL had gotten to the point that drawing a 160x144 grid of 3D squares would be a good approximation for a gameboy screen, and using shaders I could quickly flip them between four different shades of green, mimicking the colors of a real gameboy LCD panel. I used an authentic gameboy font (which was used in many games at the time). Of course, I wanted something "extra" so I implemented ripples when the user clicks on the screen. This was inspired by the raindrop/ripples effect from ZSNES, but I came up with my own version. The "pixels" (quads) are actually brightened/darkened and the vertices are moved toward/away from the ripple origin based on the sine function, and I think it looks fantastic.

Someday I'll probably bring this back as a landing screen for my domain, and link to this blog from there.
